Shadow Gible: A Needle in a Haystack

The ongoing Team Rocket Takeover event is proving to be frustrating for Pokemon Go players, as reports on the rarity of Shadow Gible surface. The popular Pokemon is “stupidly rare,” according to players, as the ongoing event’s offerings appear to leave many chasing shadows.

Team Rocket Takeover events are usually good ones for catching a rare Shadow version of various Pokemon, but much ado has been made regarding the difficulty in finding Shadow Gible during the event. According to numerous reports online, Shadow Gible encounter rates appear to be extremely low, especially during the event.

“Shadow Gible is the hardest thing to find right now in Pokemon Go,” one player writes. “Literally finding a Shadow Gible is harder than finding a needle in a haystack.” Another player also compares the Shadow Gible to a needle in a haystack, while others note it’s “the rarest thing in the game.”

Gible itself is a rather rare Pokemon in the game to begin with, so the difficulty in finding the Shadow equivalent understandably frustrates players. Shadow Gible is one of the rare legendary Pokemon in the game, and given the Pokemon Go Community Day offering featuring Gible just a few weeks ago, players expected this event to offer a more accessible chance to catch the Shadow variant. Instead, it appears the opposite.

The frustration also comes as players continue to search with little success, hoping to add Shadow Gible to their collection. It would be one thing if players were finding other, more accessible Pokemon – but Shadow Gible is one of the few offering the most challenge. While some level of rarity is good in providing challenge and excitement, it can go too far and simply become frustrating and discouraging. Niantic may also wish to reassess Shadow Gible rarity during this event and make adjustments.

As Team Rocket Takeover continues, expect Pokemon Go players to keep searching for Shadow Gible, praying for better luck. If you want to be excited about Shadow Gible, however, make sure you check out our guide on the Rare Candy quest and how to evolve Allygorn into Shadow Gible.
