Pokemon Sleep introduces shiny Pokemon

Want to know how to find shiny Pokemon in Pokemon Sleep? Shiny variants are a much-loved feature of the main Pokemon games, and they’re the same in the augmented reality spin-off, too.

How to increase shiny odds in Pokemon Sleep

The estimated shiny odds in Pokemon Sleep are around 1 in 450. This is slightly higher than in Pokemon GO, where the odds are 1 in 600. Players seem to be finding shinies at a slightly faster rate in Sleep, but you can still increase your odds by maximizing Snorlax’s Drowsy Power.

To do this, you need to increase Snorlax’s ability to attract Pokemon. Increasing the Pokemon Sleep Berries it eats and the cooking meals it consumes will improve its attraction rate.

You want to aim to increase Snorlax’s ability to attract Pokemon by cooking the highest-quality meals and feeding it the following berries:

  • Berry 1
  • Berry 2
  • Berry 3

The higher Snorlax’s Drowsy Power, the more Pokemon you’ll encounter while sleeping, and the more shiny variants you’ll run into.

Can you get shiny Pokemon while you’re awake?

The Sleep Score you earn while catching Z’s is crucial to finding Pokemon while you’re awake. The higher your Sleep Score, the more likely you are to encounter a rarer Pokemon or a visiting Pokemon you’ve never seen before.

Ideally, you want to get a full eight-and-a-half hours of sleep, but you can split your sleep time between two sessions. If you can’t get to sleep, or if you want to maximize the amount of sleep you get while playing Pokemon Sleep, you can split your sleep time into two sessions.

If you sleep for at least eight and a half hours but don’t get a full Sleep Score, you will still earn rewards. The Sleep Score will decrease by 20 for every hour of sleep you miss, so splitting your sleep time into two sessions totaling at least eight-and-a-half hours will still get you the most Sleep Score.

Sleep Score is calculated based on your sleep habits, including how long you sleep and how fitful your sleep is. Aim to get good sleep by reducing the time it takes you to fall asleep and reducing the amount of times you wake up during the night.

All of this is done by improving your sleep tracking habits, with the main way to do this being to increase your bedtime and wake-up time. You can also increase your sleep score by visiting the Game Pass town, where you can earn additional Sleep Score by catching Pokemon and visiting the Pokemon Sleep PC.
