The Pokemon World Championship Series: Unite Takes Center Stage

The Pokemon World Championship Series is all about Unite. The newly released competitive Pokemon game has enjoyed its coming out party at Worlds, as the Unite Championship stream attracts more viewers than all other Pokemon games combined. If you’ve been following the action closely, you’ll know that Unite’s fast-paced, action-oriented gameplay is enjoyable to watch and play – and that the Unite spectator experience rivals that of popular MOBAs like League of Legends and Dota.

As the only team game at Worlds, the smaller pool of players has a larger crowd of spectators watching the action. Unite has dedicated spectator areas and, perhaps most importantly, Unite is easy to follow even if you’re not a hardcore competitive player.

Throughout the tournament, attendees have been shifting between stages, watching whichever game is most popular at the time. The Unite finals definitely captivated the entire audience, proving that Unite has earned its place at Worlds.

Unite has always been easy for anyone to play, as you simply need a phone. But Unite’s growth is evident from just looking around the event – from the hundreds of players participating in the various Unite cups, to the roughly twice as many teams competing at Worlds this year.

There are also big names entering the Unite scene, with the game attracting new players and esports organisations. In fact, the winner of Worlds will take home $1 million in prizes and a sponsorship deal with the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks.
