Spider-Man 2 Hot Toy Confirms Symbiote Iron Spider Suit

The Spider-Man 2 Hot Toy confirms that the Symbiote Iron Spider suit will indeed merge both the symbiote and the Iron Spider into one powerful outfit for Spider-Man. While the symbiote legs and arms were already shown in earlier Hot Toys, the most recent reveals from the toy manufacturer show Peter Parker wearing both the symbiote and the Iron Spider’s metal legs simultaneously, suggesting that he merges the two suits together before donning the rest of the ensemble.

Spider-Man is going to get incredibly powerful in Spider-Man 2, and it looks like the symbiote suit and Miles Morales are key elements in his upcoming rise to the top. But what about Peter Parker? The first game introduced players to the Iron Spider suit and its technology, but we never saw much of it in action. It looks like Insomniac will be fixing that in the sequel, as the Hot Toy reveals Peter will be donning the full symbiote Iron Spider suit in Spider-Man 2.

The Hot Toy reveals that Peter wears the symbiote legs from the first game, which were previously shown to be black with silver gooey tendrils. However, the most recent Hot Toy reveals that these legs are actually silver with black gooey tendrils, matching the symbiote’s overall color scheme. This suggests that Peter doesn’t simply wear the symbiote, but instead combines the alien organism with his tech before painting the legs to match his cheery aesthetic.

As for the metal arms, they don’t appear to be a complete replacement for the symbiote, as the Hot Toys indicate that they can be toggled on and off. This means that Insomniac could provide players with various costume options in Spider-Man 2, allowing them to choose between Peter’s symbiote and symbiote-less versions. It remains to be seen how the studio will balance gameplay between the two, but hopefully there won’t be any situations where the symbiote version is objectively better.

On the Spider-Man PS4 subreddit, fans have been responding positively to the symbiote Iron Spider concept shown in the Hot Toy. We’ll be keeping a close eye on further Spider-Man 2 reveals as we get closer to release, as it looks like the sequel will be taking the iconic Spider-Man villain in some exciting directions.

Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man 2 releases on PlayStation 4 in 2023.
