The Spider-Man 2 digital deluxe edition has been removed from the PlayStation Stores in the Middle East, alongside pre-orders.

The Middle Eastern Release of Spider-Man 2 could be in jeopardy, as both the PlayStation Store pages and pre-orders have been removed following their sudden appearance earlier this week. The deluxe edition has been taken down, alongside the listings for both the digital and physical versions of the open-world game.

The stores now list Spider-Man 2 with a generic icon, a release date of "N/A," a price of "N/A," and a rating of "N/A," leading to speculation that the Marvel game could be facing a potential ban or delay in the region.

Previous games like The Last of Us Part 2 and Final Fantasy 16 have been banned in the Middle East due to LGBTQ+ content, although this hasn’t been confirmed as the reason for Spider-Man 2’s potential regional issues.

The Saudi Arabia PlayStation Store still shows the digital deluxe edition, but attempting to open it leads to an error that says “This content is not available in your country.”

One theory is that a prominent LGBTQ+ character in the game is causing the potential ban. Some think it could be Black Cat, who is a close friend and partner of Spider-Man. Others think it could be Harry Osborn, who is also close to Spidey and figures prominently in the game’s story.

Insomniac and PlayStation have not commented on the changes, but the store pages have been continuously updated and stripped of key details. Middle Eastern players who had pre-ordered the game before its removal have not received any information about the situation.

The UK store lists a release date of October 20 (which is the same as the Middle Eastern release date) with a price of £69.99 (which is higher than the Middle Eastern price) and a PEGI 16 rating (which is the same as the Middle Eastern rating).
