Spider-Man 2 PS5 Console Plates Being Scalped for Triple the Retail Price
Spider-Man 2 PS5 console plates are being scalped for huge amounts as eager fans try to secure the limited edition accessories ahead of the game’s launch. The plates went up for sale at PlayStation Direct and sold out almost immediately, with some now being resold on eBay for exorbitant prices.
The limited edition PS5 bundle and separate releases for the special DualSense and console covers were revealed during San Diego Comic-Con, alongside the full Spider-Man 2 release date calendar. Unfortunately, it appears that not everyone who wants the bundle has managed to get their hands on one, with the DualSense mostly out of stock and the covers having sold out as soon as they were put up for sale.
The Spider-Man 2 PS5 bundle is still available at PlayStation Direct, although it’s unclear how many units are still in stock. The DualSense is also still available, although it takes some searching to find one that’s still shipping.
The bad news is that the Spider-Man 2 DualSense and PS5 covers are being sold on eBay for ridiculous amounts of money. The console covers are listed for around £120 to £200, which is more than three times the retail price. It’s possible that these sales will be removed by eBay, but it appears that scalpers have managed to get their hands on hundreds of covers without paying anything close to their actual value.
The limited edition DualSense is also being sold on the auction site for around £120, although there are fewer of these available. Insomniac Games has confirmed that it’s unlikely the console covers will be restocked, although Sony’s decision not to restock the covers may change as the game’s release date approaches.
