Starfield will feature multiple NPC romance options, including four romanceable companions.

Want to know if Starfield will have romance options? After all, it is a Bethesda game, and there’s no way of getting around that entirely. But with a universe as big as this, it can be hard to tell who you’ll be able to get close to, so we’re here to help.

While the possibility of romance options in Starfield may be a foregone conclusion, there’s more to them than just flirting. Bethesda has confirmed that there will be multiple potential partners for players to woo in Starfield, but there’s a chance we could see even more than four. Speaking at QuakeCon, Bethesda stated that Starfield will feature four “fully-scripted romance options.” So, who are they?

Starfield’s confirmed romanceable companion is Sam Coe, an ace pilot, space cowboy, and all-round cool dude. As far as we know, he’s the only character you can potentially get close to in a romantic way, but there’s a chance that could change.

Sadly, the robot Vasco isn’t available as a potential romance partner (though maybe you could get him to develop some feelings for you), but there are other characters that could be romance options. Bethesda has described Starfield as a “social sandbox”, so we can expect to interact with a variety of characters in different ways. As well as the confirmed romance options, there’s a chance we’ll get to know other characters in a less dialogue-heavy fling.

Here are the potential Starfield romance options:

There could potentially be a fourth romance option, but we don’t know who it is yet. Bethesda mentioned four fully-scripted romance options, but there may be other members of the Constellation organization that are available for less dialogue-heavy flings.

We’re still waiting on specific details on how to begin or progress a romance, but that’s everything we know about Starfield romance options right now.

In a recent interview with The Guardian, Bethesda’s Todd Howard says that he wants to give relationships a bit more depth and realism in Starfield. “You can have disagreements, you can get in fights,” he says. “And that’s going to be interesting, because we want the game to reflect that.” He mentions the possibility of situations where your partner may get mad at you for a decision, but with the chance to patch things up and move on. It’s unclear if these moments will be scripted or more dynamic, but it would certainly be a new thing for a Bethesda game.
