Todd Howard's Interest in Space Travel
Todd Howard has revealed he could have gone to space, but the Bethesda game director admits he’s not quite ready to blast off just yet. In fact, Howard says his interest in space travel aligns with the theme of Starfield, the company’s upcoming sci-fi RPG game.
In a recent interview with GQ, Howard discusses his love for travelling and exploring, and the Bethesda game director says he’d love to go to space. “I’d love to go. I’m not ready yet,” Howard says, “but it would be amazing.”
It’s unclear who exactly invited Howard to go to space (although we’d wager it’s Elon Musk, who Howard has worked with in the past). Commercial space travel is currently controlled by a handful of billionaires, although it’s set to become more accessible in the near future.
William Shatner’s experience with Jeff Bezos on a commercial space flight didn’t go particularly well, but maybe Howard could give it a try. In any case, with Starfield and The Elder Scrolls 6 taking priority at Bethesda it looks like any space travel plans will have to wait, although we’ll have to see if Howard ever gets to fulfil his dream.
The Elder Scrolls 6 and Fallout 4 Sequel
In the same interview, Howard discusses The Elder Scrolls 6 and the upcoming Fallout 4’s sequel. The game director says the team announced The Elder Scrolls 6 “too early,” and we shouldn’t expect any trailers or gameplay anytime soon. We’ll have to wait and see.
As for Fallout 4’s sequel, Howard says it’s in the works but we shouldn’t expect to see it shown to the public for a while. We’ll keep you updated as we learn more.
The Elder Scrolls 6 is still a ways off, with Howard saying the game is “a long ways out” and that Bethesda has been working on Starfield for over a decade.
