Street Fighter 6 character breakdowns

Looking for our thoughts on Street Fighter 6’s character breakdowns? Capcom’s next fighting game features 18 characters, each with their own unique fighting style. The Street Fighter 6 roster includes a mix of returning favorites and new faces, with each character showcasing a different fighting style. We outline how each character plays in the multiplayer game, so you can choose who to use with ease.

The Street Fighter 6 protagonist – Luke – isn’t tied to a specific playstyle and can excel in any area, with an optimal skill set to pressure opponents. His moveset is well-rounded and he’s one of our picks as the best Street Fighter 6 characters competing in the next tournament. Chun-Li returns as a strong footsies character, while Dee Jay makes a comeback as a zoning character with excellent tools. Take a look at our Street Fighter 6 character breakdowns breakdown to find out more about each character.

Luke

Luke started off as a street kid living among soldiers, but he found his true calling when he met Immune. Using technology to give him superhuman abilities, Luke has grabbed his trusty gun and begun his journey to show the world what he’s capable of.

As a well-rounded character, Luke can excel in any playstyle – whether that’s aggressive high-damage mixups or slow, calculated keep away. He has tools for both, and though some of his moves sacrifice speed for other strengths, his general moveset keeps him balanced.

Chun-Li

Chun-Li is a familiar face to fans of the series, and she returns as a high-efficiency character with exceptional pokes. Her speed has even been buffed thanks to her new crouching stance, which allows her to perform new moves like her EX Kick Whip. Outside of her new stance, Chun-Li works as a strong mid-range character.

Dee Jay

Known for his zoning, Dee Jay can perform long-range dragon punches and high-reaching kicks to keep his opponents out. His new Remyeler command grab works incredibly well with his drive rush usage, and is quite difficult to punish if you execute command grabs correctly.

Cammy

Cammy works as a rushdown character, using her divekick to quickly close the gap on her opponent. She also has incredible walk speed, enabling her to apply strong pressure without falling to rushdown-reliant character weaknesses. Her mobility is paired with her fierce grapple moves, including her command grab which could end a match in a single hit if it connects.

E. Honda

Ever since King of the Fighters, fans have known plump pugilist E. Honda as ‘the Sumo Guy’. Fortunately, his move set has been rather consistent across the series, making him a familiar face in Street Fighter 6. His powerful sumo headbutt and sumo smash both offer excellent damage and dizzy potential, making him a powerful rushdown character despite his, ahem, weighty inertia.

Manon

If you prefer to play grapplers then Manon is the one for you. Her moves have been heavily inspired by Tekken’s Paul Phoenix, serving as an excellent mix of both Tekken and Street Fighter mechanics. Despite her light weight, Manon controls the ground thanks to her powerful pressure options and her ability to gain power with each command grab.

Dan

No Street Fighter roster is complete without big-bodied wrestler and veteran Dan, who finally has a break chance of appearing in a mainline fighting game. Keeping up with his tradition of being one of the worst characters in the series, no one knows for sure if Slam Master is really all that bad or if players just suck. In all seriousness, Dan’s ability to juggle opponents makes him another character to use with caution as blunders could cost you the round.
