The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - The Mysterious Room Glitch
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is a polished game with extremely rare bugs or glitches. But even the most careful players can be caught out, as one player, going by the name of Yukino, discovered a “punishment ward.” After trying to make a fool out of Ganon, Yukino was teleported to a strange, ominous room.
Trying to beat Ganon in strange ways is nothing new for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom player base. So when Yukino tried to find a way to beat Ganon without actually fighting him, they expected the game to retaliate in some way. Instead, Yukino was warped to a mysterious room, which they speculate may be related to Blood Moons in the game.
The room looks similar to the mural room in Hyrule Castle, but it’s completely empty except for Yukino. There are no rocks, sound, or light, and loading the game from the main menu did not help. Only a complete game reboot allowed Yukino to escape, but they warn against making manual saves, as there may be consequences for those who try to exploit the game.
“The room resembles the room with the mural of the goddesses,” Yukino tells us. “But it’s completely empty except for me. There’s no sound, no rocks, and no light. I can’t save, and I can’t leave by loading the game. I can only leave by quitting the game.”
While Yukino speculates that the room is related to Blood Moons, they do not believe that they were teleported there due to a blood moon. Blood Moons are triggered to prevent game crashes from excessive activity, and certain places like boss fights and minigames do not trigger Blood Moons. Yukino believes the room serves as a failsafe, warping players to prevent boss fight crashes.
“I think this is Ganon’s failsafe room,” Yukino says. “If you try to break the boss battle, you’ll be warped to this room. It basically acts as a punishment for the people who want to break the boss battles.”
Despite the ominous dark void, Yukino doesn’t believe it’s enough to deter players from breaking the game, especially given the popularity of their incident. We’ll have to wait and see if Ganon has had enough of mischief-makers, but his rage might be too much for even the best Zelda game out there.
