Xbox players express frustration with new update
Xbox players are not happy with a new update that overhauls the UI, as it removes Customization options, adds Game Pass ads, and reduces functionality. Players took to Reddit to express their dissatisfaction, as the new design is much less customizable and forces the new home page and most played games tab on them. The update visually improves the UI, but the inundation of Game Pass tabs overshadows any positive aspects.
“This is hands down the worst update I’ve ever seen for any product,” one Redditor writes. “The new home screen is so frustrating because it doesn’t reflect my most played games. I’m also not a fan of how the ‘most played games’ tab is now unmovable.”
Players are also frustrated with the new “Games Pass is great” tab, which promotes various games through excessive ads.
“I’m not impressed with this update at all,” another Redditor adds. “It’s not just the forced ads, it’s the complete lack of user input. The feedback from the Insiders program has been largely ignored, with little change implemented despite weekly input.
“They’ve reduced customization options significantly and visually improved the UI, but the lack of control over my experience outweighs the visual changes. It’s a betrayal of player feedback; the update claimed to address our concerns but removed the very customization options that allowed us to address the concerns ourselves.”
Many players also express a desire to have their groups reinstated, and dislike the excessive advertising. Despite the negative reception, players will have to adapt to the new UI as no major changes are expected in the near future.
“I’ve been an Xbox Insider for a couple years now and I’ve seen the same complaints about customization for nearly that long,” another Redditor adds. “It’s not going to get any better now that it’s live.”
