Xbox community favourite Larry Hryb, otherwise known as Major Nelson, is leaving Xbox after 20 years at the Microsoft-owned game hardware maker. In a tweet, Hryb expresses his gratitude towards fans and Xbox team members as he looks towards new opportunities.
“I am so grateful to have been part of the Xbox family for the past 20 years and I am very optimistic about the future of Xbox,” Hryb writes. “I look forward to continuing to share my experiences and enthusiasm with you all as the Xbox continues to evolve!”
Hryb’s Xbox role was as a spokesperson and community manager, a position he has held since 1999. He also hosts the Xbox Podcast, which will be taking a brief hiatus this Summer before returning in a new format.
“I’ve worked on the Xbox team for 20 years and it has been an honour to be a part of this community,” Hryb adds. “I’m looking forward to spending time with family and taking a well-deserved break.” It’s unclear whether Hryb has another role lined up elsewhere.
Hryb’s departure is a significant loss for Xbox, as he is a beloved personality who has been a part of many of our lives for the past two decades. We here at PC Game Spotlight wish him the best of luck in his future endeavours.
