Apex Legends Season 18: Revenant Reborn
Apex Legends Season 18 looks set to focus on fixing the existing roster rather than introducing a new character, but one of the battle royale game's most established characters is getting a much-needed rework. Revenant has been out of the loop for a while and, after being introduced in Season 17, lost his silence abilities to Seer. Now, Revenant Reborn is the biggest change in Season 18, and it'll be great seeing him in action once more.
There aren't many surprises in the Season 18 roadmap. New characters are always a possibility, but the focus here is on updates to the existing roster, with Mirage, Pathfinder, and Caustic all getting substantial buffs.
Revenant Reborn is a big change for the character. He's gone from a slow, tanky character with a powerful silence to a hyper-aggressive solo pusher better suited for solo play. He's free for all players in Season 18, and you'll be able to permanently unlock him through challenges.
His passive is the biggest change. It highlights low-health enemies, which is great for a character looking to hunt down his prey, and also improves wall climbing, something Revenant has always struggled with.
His tactical ability allows for a powerful leap, with the distance determined by charging it. It'll highlight low-health enemies and also destroy any cover in Revenant's path. He can also wall-hack while in the air, which is a big deal considering the new direction of his abilities.
His ultimate provides protective shadows that block damage, and the regeneration time is reduced if Revenant is taking damage. This shield makes him a formidable opponent for solo pushes, as he can charge in and take out an opponent while only having to worry about his own health. It also protects him in a 1v3 situation, which is something you'll be thankful for when Revenant is on your side.
Revenant's rework absolutely focuses on the wallhack meta prevalent in the game. Characters like Pathfinder, Bloodhound, and Wraith have thrived in the absence of silence, but certain characters without wallhacks have fallen out of favor.
In the past, this has led to Respawn adding more scans to those characters, which is a good short-term solution but remains unclear as to whether it's Respawn's vision for the game's future. It certainly suggests the studio's commitment to the wallhack meta, which some players find frustrating.
