Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 is no longer plagued by patches and updates, and the sandbox game is now stable after arduous rounds of bug fixes and performance improvements. While many fans are waiting for the next Cyberpunk 2077 DLC to drop, others are hoping that CD Projekt Red could introduce a much-requested feature that was initially scrapped.

As you might already know, the game initially focused on a first-person perspective that put the player right in the shoes of the protagonist, but plans for a third-person view were axed during development. Many fans of open-world games see a third-person camera as essential for immersion, and CD Projekt Red designed Cyberpunk 2077 around this feature. Character customization is paramount in the RPG, with body modifications, clothing accessories, and talents competing for the player's ability slots, but these features fall flat without a decent camera angle.

The Bellevue-based developer hasn’t officially commented on the matter, but with the Phantom Liberty DLC currently in development, CD Projekt Red may consider adding a third-person perspective alongside the upcoming expansion. After all, the inclusion of a third-person mode was cut from the final release, leaving fans momentarily surprised – and potentially disappointed – by its absence. Adding a third-person perspective alongside Phantom Liberty would invite players who were initially disappointed by the removal of the feature to return, including ourselves.

If the Cyberpunk 2077 3rd person mod is a bit too shaky for your tastes, consider that adding a similar mode alongside official DLC content would allow players to experience interactions with characters like Johnny Silverhand from a different perspective.

While the latest Cyberpunk 2077 trailer depicts smooth and high-quality cutscenes, the complete view of the player's protagonist was removed from the initial release. Initially, fans were excited to experience Cyberpunk's storyline from their perspective, but the functionality was cut with no comment from CD Projekt Red. On the other hand, the inclusion of a third-person mode could address many issues with the game, specifically Cyberpunk 2077’s disappointing gunplay.

Many Cyberpunk players can attest that the game’s critically praised cyberpunk atmosphere scatters to the wind when experiencing disjointed gunplay and combat that feels janky and unresponsive – issues that a third-person perspective could potentially address. In fact, SplatterCat Reviews tested a first-person FPS fix for Cyberpunk 2077 that yielded decent results.

In any case, the game isn’t solely restricted to first-person combat, as the likes of car chases and the game’s digital displays would enhance in quality further with a third-person perspective. Similar to the frantic gameplay of games like GTA and Destiny 2, implementing a third-person mode could improve Cyberpunk 2077’s overall gameplay. It’s also worth mentioning that Cyberpunk will release on the PS5, and existing details suggest that CD Projekt Red is developing for Sony’s next console.

With so many complicated issues to address, adding a third-person mode to Cyberpunk 2077 may ultimately prove too big a task. However, much like the Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer mode, implementing a third-person perspective alongside the Phantom Liberty DLC could satisfy fans and narrow the gap between original expectations and what we currently have.
