Here’s how Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty lets you change your face

Cyberpunk 2077’s new Phantom Liberty cyberware lets you change your appearance on the fly in the dystopian RPG game, and it sounds pretty handy.

Here’s how Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty lets you change your face

The Cyberpunk 2077 feature we were waiting for finally arrived in the huge 1.5 update, but it was only an option if you created your character before leaving the tutorial. Cyberpunk 2077 doesn’t let you change your character’s appearance, at least not through normal means, but CD Projekt has added some new tech that lets you do just that in the upcoming expansion to the action-RPG game.
In Phantom Liberty, some pretty swanky new cyberware trickery will allow you to change your appearance “on the fly,” thanks to some interesting new cyberware that you can reportedly buy on the black market in the new location, Dogtown.
Air-dash and more in-game features
The air-dash is essentially the latest type of cyberware CD Projekt introduces in Phantom Liberty, which is expected to release on September 25. It adds the ability to dash in the air, essentially letting you never touch the ground. CD Projekt teases the ability to combine it with the “fortified ankles” and “reinforced tendons” you can buy to double-jump, essentially meaning you could essentially never touch the ground for the rest of the game. That’s huge. Seeing enemies through walls was something Cyberpunk 2077 could have had from its moment of launch, so it’s nice to see that arrive, too.
New cyberware in Phantom Liberty also allows you to change your appearance, as CD Projekt comments, “Change your face, do a complete cosmetic overhaul – why? Because you can!” It sounds a little bit like getting a new paint job in GTA while being chased by the fuzz, which is pretty neat. It’s unclear exactly how it works, but it sounds like some sort of hologram projector projects over your face or body, potentially like the Shadowrun Returns holomancer device. We’ll find out when Phantom Liberty arrives early next month.
In the meantime, Cyberpunk 2077 devs CD Projekt today released a new trailer teasing what’s ahead in Dogtown. Check it out below:
