It’s difficult to not be filled with awe at the work, which really captures the essence of the character – but it’s also difficult not to make a lot of ‘dark’ jokes.
The painting was shared by Redditor _sir_bruce_ with the caption, “Oscar of Astora painted by me.” The user has a history of creating Dark Souls-related art, but this is their first oil painting. The detail and skill that went into the piece is immediately apparent, with the painting seemingly bringing Oscar to life.
“Your painting is incredible!” one user comments. “It’s easily the best painting of any Souls character,” another says. Several users suggest that the painting should be put in a museum, highlighting just how impressive the work is.
Others comment on the fact that the painting was done of Oscar of Astora, a character that many consider to be the hardest to romance in the game. “I never thought I’d see the day someone loved Oscar this much,” one user writes, while another asks, “Oscar is the one you love, right?”
