How to Beat Helicoprion in Dave The Diver
Helicoprion is the first major boss in the game, and the fight can be a little tricky. If you’re struggling to deal with the giant fish, here’s some advice on how to beat it.
Reaching the sixth chapter in Dave The Diver unlocks most of the areas in the game. To continue your adventure, you must activate three switches to open the Control Room in the Glacial Area. One of the challenges is battling three bosses, including the formidable Helicoprion, alongside a Sea People companion.
Fighting Helicoprion in Dave The Diver
You’re guaranteed to encounter the giant fish once you reach the correct place in the Glacial Area. The fish is the first boss you face in the underwater adventure, and it’s also the first location where you meet Sea People.
From the nautilus shell, you can unlock the boss battle room by lowering the heat in different domains and restoring the water level with your companion Suwam. When you’re ready, return to the Glacial Area and talk to Suwam.
The Helicoprion fight takes place in a large room with a large rock pillar as the main mechanic. This pillar can be rotated by pressing the control stick. The objective is to lure the fish toward the pillar and trap it between the wall and the surface.
The fish unleashes a barrage of attacks, including a Slash attack and a Dash attack. The Slash attack involves jumping into the air and crashing down. You can avoid the attack by staying close to the fish and moving up or down when it starts charging the attack. The Dash attack involves constant running in a specific direction, with the wheel on its head destroying everything in its path. You can utilize random rock structures on the battlefield to temporarily trap Helicoprion and gain an advantage in the fight.
During the fight, Suwam, your Sea People companion, will toss Divine Fruits near your position. These items are key to scoring hits on Helicoprion. You’ll want to use them to temporarily disable the fish. Strike the fish with the fruit, and it’ll be unable to move for a few seconds, allowing you to attack freely.
After dealing enough damage, Helicoprion will hit the wall, opening the passage to the switch room. You’ll have to repeat this process a few times until the fish is defeated.
At the end of the fight, you’ll be rewarded with Helicoprion’s meat, which you can cook to make Roasted Helicoprion at Bancho Sushi. This recipe is the reward for completing the recipe collection for the fish.
Due to the nature of this boss fight, portable oxygen tanks and Underwater Scooters are highly recommended items. They provide additional protection and mobility, which can be helpful during the fight.
