While there are many underwater missions in the game, this one is unique in that it doesn’t provide any hints. It can be quite challenging to locate the giant whale, but we’ve got you covered.
The Baby Whale is one of the many collectibles in Dave The Diver. The main game has various side missions that reward players with cash, charm, decorations, and new recipes. However, each mission has its own specific reward for finding the object of interest. The Baby Whale is no exception.
How to trigger the Dave The Diver Baby Whale mission
The first step to finding the Baby Whale in Dave The Diver is to reach a point in the main story where you receive upgraded gloves. This occurs after creating the Sea People Language Translator and escorting the princess to the depths.
With the newly acquired gloves, you’ll be able to remove the nail from giant boulders blocking the path in the Sea People village.
How to find the Baby Whale in Dave The Diver
Once you’ve completed the aforementioned quests in the main story, you’ll randomly encounter the giant whale again during dives. However, there’s a specific condition that must be met in order to trigger this cutscene.
You must dive from the surface and not use the mirror teleportation to the village. Once you reach a depth of approximately 70 to 75 meters on the left side of the ocean, the screen will display white arcs. The whale will make crying noises, and a dialogue between Dave and Ellie will confirm the presence of the Baby Whale.
The giant whale will swim away from you until you reach the aforementioned location. Once there, you’ll find the Baby Whale swimming around a cave blocked by boulders with a nail inside. If you’re playing the PlayStation 4 version, the nail will be replaced by a crowbar.
After removing the nail, you can enter the cave. Pet the Baby Whale multiple times to gain its trust. As you’re escorting the giant whale back to the surface, you’ll encounter enemies in a specific order:
Upon reaching the surface, the giant whale will defeat the four sharks. You’ll then return to the boat, where you can enjoy a cool display and receive a decoration for your restaurant.
That’s how you find Dave The Diver Baby Whale. While this side mission is more difficult to complete, the reward is worthwhile. It’s one of the few decorations that adds a moving element to your restaurant.
