Disney Illusion Island
The upcoming Disney Illusion Island is a couch co-op platformer featuring everyone’s favorite Disney characters Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy. The colorful 2D sidescroller offers a nostalgic experience for those who grew up playing classic Disney games, and now Nintendo Switch owners can play alongside their friends with a local co-op mode.
Disney Illusion Island launches exclusively on Nintendo Switch on July 28. While the game is available for pre-order right now, you won’t find any pre-order bonuses or special editions to snag. Instead, players can choose between physical and digital copies of Disney Illusion Island, with the latter available for purchase through the Nintendo eShop for immediate access at midnight on July 28.
There’s no online multiplayer for Disney Illusion Island, so you’ll need to be on the same couch to play with friends. This follows in the footsteps of other recent co-op games like Cursed Castilla EX and Shikhondo – Night of the Forsaken, both of which are platformers with a retro feel.
Disney Illusion Island adds to the lineup of triple-A 2D sidescrollers, alongside titles like Kirby’s Return To Dream Land Deluxe, Super Mario Wonder, Sonic Superstars, and Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. It’s a genre that’s been mostly absent on Nintendo’s console, so fans will undoubtedly be happy to see it make a comeback.
If you want to play Disney Illusion Island on day one, be sure to pre-order so you can secure your copy. There aren’t any special editions to speak of, so you won’t miss out on anything if you order right now.
