Disney Lorcana Floodborn

Want to know more about the Disney Lorcana Floodborn? These shimmering glimmers represent reimagined Disney characters with new stories and abilities. Unlike Storyborn, Dreamborn, and Illumineer glimmers, Floodborn are born from a cataclysmic event called the Flood. We know very little about the mysterious glimmers, but we’ve gathered every bit of information we could find in our Disney Lorcana review to piece together the theory behind Floodborn.

The best way to interact with Floodborn is by unlocking their ability to Shift, which lets you replace another character on the board. This ability is unique to Floodborn, and it’s theorized they’re born from the same cataclysmic event that created the Flood.

Disney Lorcana Floodborn origins

The Flood is a damaged Great Illuminary that appears in the fifth chapter of the fantasy game. While we don’t know exactly what happened to the Great Illuminary, we do have some clues as to how the Flood came to be.

First, it’s important to note that Floodborn aren’t created by the Lorcana Illumineers the same way Storyborn and Dreamborn glimmers are. Rather, the theory goes that Lorcana created the Flood as a way to separate the powers of the Great Illuminary, transforming storyborn and dreamborn glimmers into Floodborn.

Another theory is that the Flood is the source of magical ink that transforms Storyborn and Dreamborn glimmers into Floodborn. The ink could be coming from the damaged Great Illuminary itself, or perhaps the ink is produced by a damaged Great Illuminary. Either way, the first hint at this connection comes from cards like Belle, Inventive Engineer and Maurice, World-Famous Inventor. Both of these characters feature purple seaweed and a metal orb, which we see in cards featuring Mickey Mouse, Ariel, and Flotsam as well.

As if that wasn’t enough, the second set of Disney Lorcana, launching in November, promises to explore the origins and narrative of Floodborn. We’ll have to wait a few more months to uncover more details about this mysterious Floodborn and their role in the world of Lorcana. Until then, you can check out our recommendations for the best Disney Lorcana characters to help you reach the top of the leaderboard.
