Disney Lorcana: Keeping Star Wars and Marvel Out
Disney Lorcana is generating excitement as its launch approaches, as fans eagerly await more cards. But there’s one request: to keep Star Wars and Marvel out of Disney Lorcana. While the author has nothing against Star Wars or Marvel, they believe that these franchises don’t fit the Disney vibes that make Lorcana special. Instead, the magic of Lorcana lies in its deep cuts, animation love, and cosiness from Walt Disney Animation Studios.
The author’s personal request is to see Raya from “Raya and the Last Dragon” in the game, as they desire to build a Princess deck. Other fans have their own requests, but there is a clear hierarchy of Disney properties that should be included. At the top are movies from Walt Disney Animation Studios, followed by other films like “A Goofy Movie” and “Nightmare Before Christmas.” Disney Channel cartoons, The Muppets, live-action shows, Marvel, Star Wars, and other properties Disney owns come next.
That’s where the author draws the line. They believe that Marvel and Star Wars should not be included because they have their own card games and don’t fit the Lorcana vibe. Lorcana has successfully used Disney’s recognizable assets while delving into deep cuts, maintaining a sense of love and fandom. Including Star Wars and Marvel would waste the potential of Lorcana and dilute its appeal.
The game’s future lies in exploring more of Disney’s own wells to create something great, rather than expanding throughout Disney’s empire.
“Lorcana is the perfect way to show off the fun of Walt Disney Animation Studios and the underexplored properties within it,” the author says. “Rather than branching out to Marvel and Star Wars, I’d love to see an expansion based on ‘Raya and the Last Dragon.’”
The Internet's Take
Here’s what the rest of the internet has to say about Star Wars and Marvel joining Disney Lorcana:
“I don’t have anything against Star Wars or Marvel, but I feel like they just don’t fit the vibe of Lorcana.”
“I would 100% support this if it meant we got more obscure characters.”
“I’d also love to see Raya from ‘Raya and the Last Dragon’ in the game.”
“I’m not opposed to Star Wars or Marvel being in the game, but I feel like the game should stay focused on Disney.”
“I’m not opposed to Star Wars or Marvel, but I feel like they’re already represented enough with their own card games.”
“I’d be happy with Star Wars or Marvel. Just not Frozen.”
What do you think? Should Star Wars and Marvel be included in Disney Lorcana?
