What dead games would you like to see revived by publishers? It’s a tricky question, and we’re not just looking at games that were largely well-received and sold well but instead titles with memorable experiences and loyal fanbases that were abandoned.
We’ve taken a look through your suggestions and culled through the most popular dead game franchises for one last comeback. We’ve also got a few of our own picks for series that we’d love to see return.
Legacy of Kain/Soul Reaver
The community consensus is that the video game franchise that should be revived is Legacy of Kain/Soul Reaver. Many of you express your love for the storytelling – considered by many to be on another level – and consider it to be one of the best series ever crafted.
Sly Cooper
Other popular choices include Sly Cooper, with some of you reminiscing about your positive experiences playing the first three games and expressing disappointment over the series being abandoned. However, others mention that the fourth game, “Thieves in Time,” wasn’t as well-received. Some of you defend “Thieves in Time,” stating that it still maintains the same gameplay, visuals, and feel as the main trilogy.
Splinter Cell
Splinter Cell also gets a lot of love, with praise given to the shadows and lighting in the first game. Many of you express confusion and disappointment over the series being abandoned despite its success, with some mentioning that “Blacklist” was great. Others criticise Ubisoft for not being able to convert Splinter Cell into an open-world map setting, despite doing so with other franchises like Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six Siege.
Rainbow Six Siege
Then there’s Rainbow Six Siege, which some of you adore and praise for its gameplay but others of you loathe due to its toxic community. Some of you bring up Command and Conquer, suggesting remasters of “Tiberian Sun” and “Red Alert 2” and mentioning a fan-made game called “Tempest Rising” that captures the old-school Command and Conquer feel.
There’s also Mercenaries, with many of you reminiscing about your favorite moments in the series and expressing a desire for a remaster or remake. Time Splitters is another series mentioned, with many of you excited about the upcoming reboot and a fan-made game in the works. Unreal Tournament also gets a shout, with many of you expressing a desire for a new game in the franchise.
