NBA2K22 for PS5: Visuals and Microtransactions

The NBA2K22 PS5 release date has come and gone, and while graphics have been described as incredible, the microtransactions have been labeled as galling or even the worst in sports gaming. It's a mixed bag of reactions to a game that has made significant strides in graphical fidelity since Bulls vs Blazers on the SNES in 1992.

Some critics argue that the microtransactions are out of control and ruin the entire experience, while others claim they are ready to spend $100 in the first 2 weeks. There is consensus on the incredible graphics, but some players miss the charm and colorful aesthetic of older games, even comparing it to the soulless Fortnite and Marvel's Contest of Champions.

"The graphics are incredible, and I don't want to say the older games were bad, but I was more drawn to the aesthetic of the older games. The charm just isn't there for me, and that's why I prefer the older games." "I can only speak for myself, but graphics are incredibly important in modern gaming, so I have to give the nod to the newer game."

There are also some humorous comments, comparing the graphical improvements over the years to Squidward's cry of "FUTURE!" in SpongeBob SquarePants:

"Next year, they'll come up with a game that has graphics on par with What's Eating Gilbert Grape? and then in 2023, they'll have a game that'll blow Hocus Pocus out of the water."

Overall, gamers are amazed by the constant advancements in graphics technology and look forward to what the future holds.
