Here are the finest FPS games you can play on Nintendo Switch, from gleeful multiplayer shooters to classic Doom-style first-person shooters and modern roguelikes.

Some FPS games port extremely well to the Switch, and despite the technical limitations of the system, you can run some rather impressive shooters off the relatively puny hybrid console. These games push the boundaries of what can be done on Nintendo’s portable system, and we should be thankful that some of our favourite FPS games on PC can be played on the go.
The best FPS games on Nintendo Switch are:
Bright Memory: Infinite
The FPS genre is a bit lacking on Nintendo Switch, so when an original, exciting shooter lands on Nintendo’s console, it definitely deserves a mention. Bright Memory: Infinite is a shooter with a striking Mexican aesthetic, as you take on the role of a captured alien seeking escape from its imprisoning cocoon. There’s shooting and melee combat, plus a very limited skill tree. However, the key draw is earning experience points when completing levels and unlocking new weapon upgrades.
The game itself is fairly short, you’ll be able to complete it in about two hours, but it takes a lot longer to reach 100% completion. You’ll have to play each of the game’s three chapters multiple times to pick up every collectable and complete every challenge. So while the game itself is quite short and sweet, getting that perfect 100% completion on a game as technically simple as this one will take a lot of time.
Opinions on competitive multiplayer games on the Switch are naturally a bit divided. However, at the time of writing this, Apex Legends – the only first-person battle royale game available on Switch – is still an extremely fun time, and definitely worth playing, even if you already own it on PC. ASwitchopath prefers the game on Switch over the PC version, writing that “Playing on PC requires a faster mouse and keyboard. While playing on the Switch’s Joy-Con is definitely more disjointed, I think it makes the game more manageable compared to using a mouse.”
Released in 2013, Call of Juarez: Gunslinger is undoubtedly a blast from the past. The shooter is set in a Western-themed world, following a bounty hunter on a mission to take down some of history’s most infamous outlaws. Filled with gunfights and romping around charming frontier towns, Call of Juarez: Gunslinger does much more than simply scratch an itch for Western games.
There’s an unwavering focus on gunplay, on making the shooting mechanics satisfying and fulfilling, and Tequila Works absolutely nails this aspect. There’s a good amount of variety in the game’s arsenal as well, with everything from classic pistols to flamethrowers, which encourages different playstyles when it comes to squeezing off that perfectly placed headshot. Don’t go expecting a roguelike from this port though, as there are no permadeath mechanics or daily runs when playing the upgraded Call of Juarez: Gunslinger+.
Enter the Gungeon
Enter the Gungeon may have arrived on Switch back in 2023, but it remains one of the best shooter games on the system, and one of the finest roguelikes, period.
