Persona 3 Reload introduces new English voice cast in latest trailer
The upcoming Persona 3 Reload is replacing its entire English voice cast, and the new gameplay reveal gives us our first listen to the replacements. While we’ve already heard the new voices for the main characters in the Japanese trailer, this one features the voices of several main characters, including Yukari, Akihiko, Mitsuru, Junpei, and Fuuka.
The most noticeable change is surely Fuuka, who sounds like a young girl now, as opposed to her previous pack-a-day smoker voice. Yukari and Mitsuru sound so seamless that you might not even notice the change, but there is curiosity surrounding Akihiko’s performance. His original distinct and comically badass voice might be hard to replace, but we only hear a snippet in the trailer.
On the other hand, there are some concerns among fans about these replacements, given the history of Persona games suddenly replacing voice actors. Previous examples include Kanji Tatsumi in Persona 4 Arena Ultimax and Tae Takemi in Persona 5 Royal. However, the quality of the acting is expected to be high, so it might not be a significant issue.
Despite the uncertainty about the new voices, the trailer itself is quite exciting, and fans are ready to revisit the game and experience the improvements in the remake. Persona 3 Reload is set to release on PlayStation 4 next year.
