Pikmin 4: All the Pikmin Types

Want to know about all the Pikmin types in Pikmin 4? From the very beginning, the series has had several different Pikmin types, and the latest game in the series introduces even more.

Pikmin 4 brings back all the Pikmin types from the series, including some new ones that the game is setting up for a DLC release or even a sequel. Each type has its own strengths and weaknesses, so you need to strategically plan which ones to bring along on expeditions. With so many options, it can be hard to choose, so we’ve ranked each Pikmin type based on their strengths and weaknesses.

All the Pikmin Types in Pikmin 4

The Pikmin series has a lot of different types of Pikmin, so it can be hard to keep them all straight. Here are all the Pikmin types in Pikmin 4:

  • Blue Pikmin: They are the most average Pikmin type. They are useful in water-related situations.
  • Ice Pikmin: They are good for dealing with tough enemies and freezing hazards. However, they aren’t great at carrying items through water and are only available later in the game.
  • Winged Pikmin: They are the best navigator Pikmin. They can fly over obstacles and attack from a distance, but they aren’t very strong.
  • Glow Pikmin: They are immune to hazards, but they only come out at night or in caves, making them hard to use in some areas.
  • Rock Pikmin: They are very strong fighters, but they bounce off enemies when attacking and can’t attack airborne enemies.
  • Yellow Pikmin: They are good for treasure hunting because they can use their electrical immunity to locate buried items. Additionally, they can be thrown higher, hit enemies on higher ledges, and dig quickly to uncover valuable items quickly.
  • Purple Pikmin: They are strong and can carry more items, but they are not as strong as in Pikmin 1.
  • White Pikmin: They are excellent for poison-related situations because they are immune to poison. They can also find hidden treasure, but they are extremely weak and not easy to obtain.
  • Red Pikmin: They are the first and most generic type, making them easy to obtain. They are strong, immune to fire, and can fly in balloons for navigation.

Now you know all about the different Pikmin in Pikmin 4, you should be ready to strategize your way through the game. You can only carry a limited number of different Pikmin types, so you need to make sure you have the right set for each situation, which can be challenging due to the limited number of choices. For example, you may want to bring Ice Pikmin for a tough enemy, but you also have to consider that you will have to cross a pool of poison in order to reach the enemy, so you may need to bring White Pikmin instead.

The game also limits you to only three different types of Pikmin at a time, so you can’t just carry a bunch of each type and hope for the best. This means that you need to choose strategically based on the strengths and weaknesses of each Pikmin type. For example, if you go to a lake, you may want to bring Blue Pikmin since they are good for water, but if you are going into a dungeon, you may want to bring Winged Pikmin since they can fly over obstacles.

In the end, the best Pikmin type is arguably Red Pikmin, since they are the first and most generic type. Since they are so abundant, you can easily amass a large army of them, and since they are strong and immune to fire, they are the most reliable choice if you have no other options.
