Rayman joins Mario + Rabbids in Sparks of Hope DLC
Rayman is finally joining Mario + Rabbids, as Ubisoft announces a DLC featuring the platforming hero for Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope. Rayman appears to be a central character in the DLC, leading the Rabbids instead of acting as a sidekick, and it looks like he has plenty of attitude to boot.
The reveal trailer showcases Rayman in action alongside the Rabbids, putting his platforming skills to good use as he takes on a variety of foes. There’s even a little moment where Rayman seems to check his watch and decide he has time for one more battle – a cheeky nod to his days spent relaxing on the menu screen of the first Rayman game.
I’m sure that Mario won’t begrudge Rayman his new friends, given that he himself has made plenty of new companions over the years. Unfortunately, we don’t get to see Rayman and Mario interact in the gameplay trailer, but I’m sure that if the Ubisoft and Nintendo can make this crossover happen, they’ll do it again.
This also marks Rayman’s first console appearance in ten years, as the last console game in the series was released in 2013. Rayman has remained active in the mobile gaming scene, but the Rabbid spinoffs have gained more attention in recent years.
With this in mind, I’m happy to see that Ubisoft realizes that Rayman and the Rabbids can coexist in games. I’m also eager to see if there are any plans for a solo Rayman game in the future, as he’s been mostly absent from the videogame scene for a while now.

Rayman in the Phantom Show is the official DLC name, and it releases on August 30.

Fans are hyped about Rayman’s return, and from what I’ve seen, I think he looks great. I’m also pleased to see that Rayman is still Rayman, even as he takes on his most unusual role to date. Rayman fans have also been sharing some of their thoughts on Twitter:
Personally, I just want to see if there’s any hope for a crossover between Rayman and Mario. Rayman has remained mostly absent for a while now, and I’m pleased to see him return in such a high-profile way.
