How to play Sky with friends on Switch

Instead, you have to find a convoluted workaround to allow you to join each other’s games.
Thankfully, Sky is now available on Nintendo Switch, meaning you can take this beautiful adventure with you on the go. However, if you want to play with friends, there are a few hoops to jump through. We’ve put together a guide that shows you how to play Sky with friends on Switch, so you can enjoy solving puzzles together and freeing spirits.
To play Sky with friends on Switch, you first need to add your friends on your Nintendo account. If your friends are playing on Switch, you need to add them on Nintendo Switch. If your friends are playing on mobile, you can skip ahead to the mobile section.
Once you’ve added your friends on Nintendo, you’re ready to play Sky with them. The good news is that Sky offers cross-play and cross-progression between Switch and mobile platforms, so there’s no need to choose which version of the game to play.
If your friend hasn’t played Sky yet, you’ll need to wait until they’ve played through the introduction and unlocked their first spirit. Restart Sky if you both have just added each other to ensure visibility.
Navigate to the pause menu and select ‘invite’ to add your friend. Make sure they’re on a different platform to you (mobile or Switch) as the invite button won’t appear otherwise.
Sky requires you to be within close proximity of each other to be able to add friends. You can check if you’re close enough by looking for the cloud icon next to your friend’s name. If you’re not within range, simply walk closer to each other until the icon appears.
You can then use the L and R buttons to find your friend’s name in the constellations. Click on your friend’s name and then select the symbol that resembles a stick person following a dotted line leading to a triangle. This symbol is the ‘join friend’ button, which will warp you to your friend’s position.
