Gotcha!

Gotcha! is a minigame compilation that, at first glance, may bring to mind the shovelware Mobile Game Ads that are so common on the digital storefronts of Steam and other platforms. However, the collection is more self-aware and stylish than what it may appear to be at first, offering up a wide variety of puzzle, challenge, and minigame types that feature the kinds of stickpeople that one might expect to see in such a collection.

The collection, which is titled “YEAH! YOU WANT ‘THOSE GAMES,’ RIGHT? SO HERE YOU GO! NOW, LET’S SEE YOU CLEAR THEM!” on Steam, offers a wide variety of games, each with its own unique style and goals. Some of the mini-games are fairly simple, while others are more complex and require more patience and skill. Some of them are meant to be played alone, while others can be played with friends or with the whole world.

Each month, there is a new leaderboard for each game, with a new set of coin rewards for each. There is a “Gotcha!” machine that allows for 8,910,000 different combinations of plates and titles, and it is sure to keep players coming back over and over again. The studio behind the collection, Monkeycraft, is no stranger to excellent ports of Katamari Damacy games, so we have high expectations.

The game is priced at $13 and some Steam users are already criticizing it for being light mobile-like shovelware. However, players have expressed their desire for more games in similar style. In light of the positive response from the community, it’s safe to say that Monkeycraft has tapped into something here and has garnered a genuine following.

In light of the studio’s recent success, it will be interesting to see how much time they will dedicate to developing other, more legitimate games. Balancing their legitimate game development with social media and mobile game time certainly seems to be working out for them.

The collection can be purchased on Steam. If you’re looking for a more traditional single-player experience, be sure to check out the best space games on PC. You can also get your hands on the best multiplayer games, if that’s more your jam.
