The Sims 4 Horse Ranch

The Sims 4 Horse Ranch introduces a new skill to the game alongside the ability to run your own horse ranch. Nectar Making lets your Sims produce bottled nectar that can be consumed, sold, or stored to mature, improving the quality and increasing your profit.

Nectar Making Skill

Nectar making pairs nicely with gardening to grow produce that can be used in recipes. You can also use the nectar maker to stomp on fruit, which is cheaper but slower to produce than buying ingredients. You can even take your Sims on the road with the horse and carriage to sell nectar at festivals, though you'll need to develop your Sim's charisma skill to unlock this option.

To get started with the nectar making skill, you'll need to buy a nectar maker and storage rack. The cheapest nectar to craft is apple, which still yields a profit when sold. Once you have these items, you can start making nectar by selecting the nectar maker and choosing a recipe.

Sims can only make one bottle at a time, so crafting nectar takes time. The quality of the nectar depends on your Sim's mood and nectar making skill level, with higher-quality nectar granting more powerful buffs and effects. To age nectar, place bottled nectar on a table or in a nectar storage rack. Each nectar matures over time, with each day counting as 24 Sim hours.

Unlocking Recipes

In order to make different recipes, you'll need to unlock them by reaching certain skill levels. You can check the recipes you can make by clicking the recipe board on your nectar maker. Each recipe requires specific ingredients, which you can grow or buy, and unlocks at certain skill levels.

Different types of nectar grant Sims different buffs and effects, so you may want to consider what you're using to make your nectar. For example, a Sim may make nectar with a honeybee sting to boost the quality of nectar, giving the Sim honeybee allergies.

Nectar also matures over time to increase the profit from selling the recipe. Different recipes sell for different prices at each maturity level. You can check the price difference between a Sim's lightly aged nectar and the highest-level recipe by clicking on the nectar in their inventory.

Higher-level recipes take slightly longer to make but build skill faster. You'll also have to make an aged version of a recipe before you can unlock the lightly aged version. For example, you can't unlock lightly aged nectar of blackberry until you've made aged nectar of blackberry.

Expert Nectar Maker Aspiration

Sims can reach the Expert Nectar Maker aspiration by making approximately 58 bottles of nectar. The aspiration grants the Nectar-Know-It-All trait, which grants buffs for lightly aged nectars and reduces the cost of ingredients.

In addition, maxing the skill also grants these recipes:

You can reduce the cost of ingredients by growing your own produce. Gardening also pairs well with nectar making to produce the ingredients you need for recipes. Consider making nectar using fruit instead of ingredients if you don't want to wait for ingredients to grow. The skill takes longer to build but may be more cost-effective if you're just starting out.
