The Witcher Season 4: Producers Discuss Actor Swap
In the wake of The Witcher season 3, fans are eager to see what the future holds for Geralt and his companions. With Henry Cavill set to depart the show, producers Steve Gaub and Tomek Baginski discuss how the actor swap will be incorporated into season 4, and it sounds like it'll be just as smooth as a swish of the Witcher's silver sword.
In a new interview, Gaub and Baginski address the big change, with the pair confident that it will feel "very, very close to the meta ideas which are deeply embedded in the books, especially in book five." Perhaps Ciri's dimension-hopping powers will play a role, allowing Geralt to hop between worlds and appear in the correct form wherever he lands.
"The whole idea of the change is very lore accurate," Gaub explains. "In The Lady of the Lake, there's a cross-dimensional journey to a world of Arthurian legend, and although we don't have the books, we are very aware of the story, and I can say that it's very much in line with it."
Gaub also praises Cavill's performance in season 3, declaring it a great final run for him as Geralt. "He did an amazing job," Gaub says. "He really nailed it, and it was really a pleasure to work with him." Cavill bid farewell to his costars and coworkers during a Netflix event, expressing his appreciation for their work and mentioning that he will miss them.
The Witcher season 3 arrives in two batches, with the first episodes dropping on June 29. You can check out the full interview over on The Hollywood Reporter, with the swap discussion starting at the 36-minute mark. Personally, I'd prefer a humorous bathtub transformation to explain the swap...
Or perhaps we'll get a nod to the classic Monty Python sketch instead.
