A bittersweet goodbye to Henry Cavill’s Geralt comes from the actor himself, who thanks The Witcher co-stars for their “nuanced” portrayals of complex characters in the Netflix series. Cavill calls out his fellow actors for avoiding oversimplification and putting in work, care, and effort in Season 3 of the show and beyond.

The Witcher Season 3 and the Farewell

“This isn’t false nostalgia. He genuinely means this and he knows they've heard it before,” Cavill says in a video shared by cast member Joey Batey. “But the characters are well-written and they're real, flawed, bombastic, complicated, rich, and deep. He is incredibly thankful to have been able to play alongside them all. What they achieved together he is very proud of, and he knows they all put in the work.”

Batey responds with a nod toward Cavill’s “immense contribution” to the show and thanks him for “being such an explorer, such a leader, an angel, and an explorer,” before going in for a hug.

The Witcher Season 3 Premiere: Cold Flames

The Witcher brought its Season 3 premiere, Cold Flames, back in April, featuring a battle involving the entire cast and spanning two and a half minutes. In it, Ciri is first confronted by scarred mage Rience, played by Sam Woolf, who attempts to ambush her at a camp, leading to a fight that involves multiple characters and a lot of stabbing. As the battle escalates, the rest of the characters arrive, including Catty, Jaskier, and Geralt.

The next part of the second season will be the last to feature Cavill. He will be replaced by Liam Hemsworth from Season 4 onwards. The show has already been renewed for a fifth season, with Tudum this week giving fans a sneak peek at some of the upcoming series.
