Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and the Mixed Opinions
Opinions on Valhalla and other recent Assassin’s Creed games are mixed, as some players love Valhalla, while others find it dull compared to previous titles. Critics complain about bugs, length, voice acting, and a lack of similarity to earlier AC games, but other players find these aspects enjoyable.
There’s no denying that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is one of the biggest Ubisoft games of the year, with a massive map and tons of quests to complete. There’s a lot to love about Valhalla, as it completes the Assassin’s Creed mythology trilogy alongside Origins and Odyssey.
However, Valhalla isn’t without its issues, and many critics note that the game is buggy, full of fetch quests, and lacks originality compared to earlier AC games. User ratings are generally positive, but some players have found the open world to be boring and the overall experience disappointing.
Ubisoft games, in general, face criticism for being unoriginal and uninspiring. Some of these criticisms are fair, but players who enjoy the mythology trilogy (Origins, Odyssey, Valhalla) would likely disagree.
Other big games that receive mixed opinions include Siege, FF15, Dynasty Warriors, Diablo 3 Reaper of Souls, Anthem, Kingdom Hearts re: chain of memories, Tales of Arise, Black Ops 4, Biomutant, Call of Duty Infinite Warfare, Minecraft Story Mode, and Fortnite.
Whether you love or hate Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, one thing’s for sure: it’s a huge game. The sheer size of Valhalla’s map (and the slow pace of travel) is something that some players dislike, while others are perfectly happy with the game’s pace.
Other aspects of Valhalla that players either love or hate include the combat in Odyssey, which is divisive, to say the least. Some players find the combat system in Odyssey terrible, while others enjoy it. Meanwhile, Odyssey’s parkour is widely praised, as players can climb almost any surface.
Odyssey’s visuals are generally regarded as visually stunning, but other aspects of Valhalla are criticised. Some players find the open world to be dull, which is something I can certainly understand. I personally find the combat in Odyssey disappointing, which is a case of personal preference.
In the end, it’s important to form our own opinions rather than relying solely on online discussions. The vocal minority online doesn’t represent the overall gaming community’s opinion. It can be difficult to find legitimate discussions about games due to the prevalence of criticism.
Personally, I love the mythology trilogy, despite its flaws. I can overlook bugs and slow travel, but the combat in Odyssey is a no-go for me.
