In order to subdue the Humboldt Squid, you’ll need a Tranquilizer Harpoon, Tranquilizer Rifle, or an upgraded Hush Dart.

These items allow you to put the Squid to sleep, allowing you to approach and use the Salvage Drone.

Alternatively, you can defeat the Squid and then utilize the Drone.

Using the Drone on the Squid while it is asleep will yield extra meat, but using it when the Squid is defeated will not result in a three-star rating.

The Tranquilizer Harpoon can only be found randomly in underwater weapon chests, while the other two items can be crafted. It’s important to note that the Harpoon resets to its basic version whenever you exit the water.

If you get too close to the Squid, it will ensnare you with its tentacles, requiring you to rapidly press buttons and complete a quick-time event to escape. The Squid will leave a trail of purple ink as it retreats, and swimming into this ink will poison you, causing damage over time.
