The Belle, Inventive Engineer Lorcana Card
With the Belle, Inventive Engineer Lorcana card coming in hot, it’s time to wrap up TheGamer’s Lorcana Week. The latest Disney card game is full of surprises, and Belle is one of them. With all-new, curated artwork that tells fresh stories, the reimaginings of classic characters in Dreamborn cards feel true to their spirit.
Belle’s Dreamborn card is the perfect balance of reimagining and honoring the character’s spirit. As a scientist, it’s true to her intelligent nature. She looks smart and curious in vibrant colors, with a detailed background, and a closer framing than her Storyborn brethren. She’s a true Dreamborn character, but you might not notice at first.
Compare this to Lilo, Galactic Hero, which feels entirely disconnected from Lilo’s personality, as well as the vibrant artwork of the card itself. Lilo is a legendary Hawaiian hero, but the card paints her as a brash, sword-wielding warrior. She looks more like a Legendborn character than a Dreamborn one, but you could argue that any card with a unique frame is Dreamborn.
Then there’s the Floodborn card, the meaning of which we’re yet to discover. It raises the question of whether the game’s lore is already evolving, and whether these cards will drive the game forward in future chapters. Some players are already theorizing that the Floodborn card may be the start of a new type of card, but we’ll have to wait and see.
Regardless, Dreamborn characters present new ideas and snapshots rather than a complex narrative. Belle, Inventive Engineer represents the potential of Dreamborn characters. It’s not the first card to reimagine them, yet it feels vibrant, colorful, and closer to the original artwork.
