Disney Lorcana: A TCG for newcomers and Disney fans alike.

I’m a complete TCG noob, but Disney-lorcana">Disney Lorcana has caught my attention. I’ve always found Card Games daunting because of the cost and commitment involved. Existing popular card games like Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and Magic: The Gathering have well-established scenes, making it tough for newcomers to catch up. You need to spend money to enter a tournament, and if you want to be competitive you have to keep buying cards to build a better deck.

Disney Lorcana offers the opportunity to start from scratch and get in on the ground floor of a new game. I’ve pre-ordered one of each starter deck and an Illumineer’s Trove to expand my collection. Unlike other card games, it allows me to play the game without needing to continuously buy more cards. Of course, this could change once the game launches, but for now I appreciate that all cards in Lorcana have the same value.

In other card games, the value of a card is not solely based on its gameplay abilities but also on its rarity and status symbol. The One Ring from Magic is a good example – while it’s not the best card in the game, its value is based on how difficult it is to obtain. The fact that it’s a rare card and has the iconic Lord of the Rings logo on the art makes it more desirable than the more powerful Gandalf card.

Disney Lorcana currently remains unaffected by collectors or scalpers, allowing me to play purely as a game – and that’s something I’ve always wanted to do. I’m also excited about learning the game alongside everyone else and having enough cards for three people to play right from the start.

The fact that it’s Disney is also a big draw for me. I’m a huge Disney fan and have always loved the quality and craftsmanship of each card’s design and artwork. I’m excited to have the opportunity to have a physical collection of cards that are this beautiful. While I’m unsure if Lorcana is the best starting point for card games, it’s definitely the perfect choice for me.

I’m also a bit of a joker so I’m sure there’s a bit of humor in my excitement. I’m demanding the Elsa card, Spirit of Winter, to complete my collection – I will have it, even if I have to pay twenty dollars for it on eBay after the game’s launch.
