A live-action Jak and Daxter movie is apparently in the works at Sony, with Tom Holland set to star as the playable Jak and Chris Pratt potentially voicing Daxter. This news comes via movie insider MyTimeToShineHello, who has previously leaked information on big movies including the upcoming Narnia movie. While this Jak and Daxter adaptation is still unconfirmed, it’s something Naughty Dog fans have been hoping for for years – either through a new game or a long-overdue remake.
If you’re not familiar with the Jak and Daxter series, it’s one of the most beloved PlayStation games of all time. It’s also a series that’s been long overdue for a comeback, as we haven’t had a new Jak and Daxter game since Jak and Daxter: A New Beginning in 2023. There have been some rumors of a Jak and Daxter PS4 game, but nothing has materialized as of yet.
Sony is reportedly making a live-action movie adaptation of the game, with Venom and Uncharted director Ruben Fleischer potentially helming the project. According to MyTimeToShineHello, Tom Holland is set to play Jak, the main playable character in the game, and Pratt is in talks to play Daxter.

“Fleischer is directing a live-action adaptation of the popular PlayStation games Jak and Daxter,” the movie insider explains. “The movie will be about an evil Baron who is after a magical orb that Jak possesses. Holland previously expressed interest in playing Jak in a “weird and dark” adaptation of the games. However, this is the first we’ve heard of a live-action movie adaptation, and it follows Fleischer mentioning it back in 2022.
Despite the lack of recent games in the franchise, this news has certainly sparked some humor. We’re all aware of Pratt playing a lot of different videogame characters, but the mention of him playing another gaming character after Mario has me laughing.
It’s also worth pointing out that Holland will now be playing the lead in both the Jak and Daxter movie and the Uncharted movie, which may cause some confusion for some viewers. Nevertheless, this news has certainly got people talking about the franchise once again.
