We investigate how many Pikmin you'd need to carry a dead body in Pikmin 4

How many Pikmin would it take to carry a dead body? While this isn’t a question that’s likely to ever come up in your average Pikmin adventure, it’s one that’s haunted our nightmares ever since we first set foot on the planet of Kaptar.

In the creepy, corpse-filled wasteland that is Pikmin 4, you’re bound to stumble across a dead body at some point. However, how would you go about moving it? Would you bury it? Burn it? Bury it and then burn it? Hypothetically, how many of these little dudes would it take to transport your average corpse?

Luckily, we have the means to answer this question. Thanks to the extensive item list available in Pikmin 4, we can see at what weight and number of Pikmin each object is measured. So, using this information, let’s examine the items found within Pikmin 4 to determine the number of Pikmin needed for this task.

Pikmin 4 weight chart

In Pikmin 4, objects are measured by the number of Pikmin required to carry them, not by weight. So for example, apples require 7 Pikmin, while a Game Boy Advance SP needs 12. The heaviest item in the game, watermelons, require 100 Pikmin to lift.

In order to calculate the hypothetical number of Pikmin needed to carry a dead body, we need to use watermelons as a baseline, which weigh around 10 kilograms. Considering an average human body weight of 70 kilograms, this would give us around 700 Pikmin. However, the current limit in the game is 100 Pikmin, making it physically impossible to carry a whole body.

Pikmin 4 corpse requirements

However, let’s not get ahead of ourselves, we haven’t worked out how to get this body into the hands of our little friends. So, we need to break down the requirements for this task. Firstly, we need to support the torso, which would take several hundred Pikmin. Around 50 per limb would be required to support the arms and legs, and then around 100 to hold up the head.

After all that hard work, the body would be transported into Olimar’s ship, where it would be either transformed into rocket fuel or more Pikmin, depending on how the day is going. To account for any additional items or belongings, we’d advise you to bring extra Pikmin, totaling around 750.

So, there you have it, a hypothetical answer to a hypothetical question. With the disturbing nature of this game’s mechanics now in the open, we hope you’ll join us in this grim hypothetical journey, and help us carry this hypothetical body before the authorities arrive.
