A new PS5 update finally allows you to disable or adjust the volume of the high-pitched beep on Sony consoles

A new PS5 update finally allows you to disable or adjust the volume of the high-pitched beep that has plagued PlayStation consoles for almost two decades. Previously, Sony would not allow users to alter the setting despite receiving consistent feedback regarding the gripe. Now, players can enjoy a more customizable and accessible gaming experience on the latest Sony Console.

The new update offers a win-win situation by muting the beep while also improving audio quality. Previously, fans had to resort to complicated workarounds to avoid the irritating sound, such as using the PS Remote Play app on a phone with Wi-Fi turned off. This, however, required leaving the console in rest mode, which is less than ideal. Now, players can simply turn off the beep in the settings, which marks the end of a 17-year-old gripe among PlayStation users.

The update also introduces Dolby Atmos support, which should provide better audio experiences when playing on the console. You can now plug in Dolby Atmos-supported audio devices and select the option under the audio output settings.

Other changes include new accessibility options, such as being able to use a second controller for assistance. This allows you to effectively operate the PS5 console as if you were using one controller, which could be helpful for certain games where you might not necessarily need two controllers.

You can also now disable haptic feedback effects while navigating the PS5, a feature that will probably come in handy if you’re prone to accidentally bumping the controllers while playing. Finally, the update also allows you to react to friends’ messages with emojis, which may become more annoying than the beep over time.

So, what do you think of the new features in the latest PlayStation update? Will you be disabling the beep on your console?
