A PlayStation ad from the early 2000s
A PlayStation Ad from the early 2000s has resurfaced online, and it is glorious. It depicts Lara Croft saying hello to a weary traveler named Jesus, who is on his way to visit PlayStation and see what all the fuss is about. Elsewhere, a young man is fast asleep in his bed, heralding his arrival with soft snoring.
“The classic ‘Lara Christ’ advert that certain folk didn’t like,” Lara says, introducing herself to Jesus. “At least I have a sweet race car bed.”
Elsewhere, a young man takes his blanket off and gets into bed, presumably to sleep. “I hear you’re upset about what she said,” Lara continues, “but I’m actually offended that you’re offended.”
“Fascist bible thumpers,” Jesus replies. “My doll has cold sores now.”
“Isn’t the future great?” Lara says, with a cheeky grin.
“That doesn’t sound oddly specific at all…” one reddit user replies.
“I guess they were looking for outrage because there is nothing else going for this ad,” another replies.
“It depends, does friend’s mom give a helping hand?”
“The church of Croft, where their savior died because she couldn’t grab that god damned edge,” another replies.
“There’s also a holy book with glossy pages and lots of pictures,” another replies.
“It’s a holy place. Not meant for mere mortals,” Lara replies.
PlayStation ads from this era were wild. Check out some of the best here.
If that ad wasn’t enough for you, here’s a link to r/thighdeology.
Alternatively, you could watch this guy play the original Tomb Raider on an Xbox 360. That’s pretty great too.
