The best PS3 games for college

We’ve all got that friend who spends more time playing games than studying, and while it can be fun to join in, you can’t help but wonder how they ever got into college in the first place. Regardless, we’re all allowed one diversion from studying, and if that’s gaming, we’ve got the best PS3 Games you can play in your downtime.

Everybody’s situation is different, with some people having played them all, and others trying to squeeze in as many games as possible in their down time. Some of us have more time for gaming than others, so we’ve tried to cater for all of these situations by offering a diverse selection of titles, some already played, others new.

So, without further ado, here are the best PS3 games for college.

Skyrim

The fantasy games from Bethesda are often considered among the best PC games too, so it’s not surprising that Skyrim finds itself on this list. Since the game’s release in 2011, it has only grown in popularity, and many fans enjoy revisiting the world of Tamriel. It’s also worth noting that the PS4 version of Skyrim is among the best games on the platform, so you can easily play it at home if you’re a proud owner of the newest PlayStation console.

Dishonored

While not a typical choice for a list of best PS3 games, the stealth game Dishonored is a personal favorite, and one that has aged extremely well. Not only is it one of the best stealth games, but it’s also one of the best adventure games, boasting a refreshingly unique world, and plenty of immersive games to sink your teeth into.

Concerns about gaming affecting your grades negatively are valid, however, so try to balance it with socializing and studying.

Uncharted series

The Uncharted series is one that, in hindsight, I’m ashamed of never having played before. All four games in the series are breathtaking adventures that deliver on every front – from the story and characters, to the presentation and gameplay. The second game, Among Thieves, is the standout entry, but Uncharted 4, A Thief’s End, is no slouch either. If you’re a newcomer to the series, I’d recommend playing the first game, Drake’s Fortune, before the second, and if you’re looking to play in chronological order, that means you should play the third game, Among Thieves, first.

Bionicle game

I’m not sure if this is a reboot of the Lego Bionicle games or a new game entirely, but I had a lot of fun with this one. It brings back so much nostalgia, and I’d love to sink many more hours into it, but the quality of the game is a little uncertain. If you’re a fan of the Bionicle universe, it’s a must-play, but it might be a little rough around the edges.

Sleeping Dogs

Sleeping Dogs is a game that I’ve seen many people go back to time and time again, and it’s easy to see why. It’s a very well-crafted open-world game, with some of the best combat I’ve ever experienced, and a genuinely engaging story. While the first few hours may not be as good as the rest of the game, it gets better, and by the end, you’ll be left wanting more – and that’s exactly what we got in Sleeping Dogs 2, although it’s a very different beast.

Max Payne

A classic from the early days of the PS3, Max Payne’s third game is a neo-noir shooter that’s equal parts adrenaline rush and thoughtful story. The game has aged well, and even though I’ve played through it many times, I can never get enough of it.

Borderlands 2

Borderlands 2 is everything you would want out of a sequel – bigger, better, and more chaotic.
