Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster

A ‘90s Star Wars shooter like Star Wars: Dark Forces is getting a Remaster, as the boomer shooter will be ported to current-gen consoles, the Nintendo Switch, and PC. The ‘90s game is set during the Original Trilogy, as players infiltrate the Death Star and steal its plans, filling in gaps before A New Hope.

Star Wars: Dark Forces was the start of Katarn’s journey, followed by appearances in Dark Forces 2, Jedi Knight: Mysteries of the Sith, Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast, and Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy. Despite its age, I would argue that Dark Forces is still one of the best Star Wars games, and this remaster may just inspire me to revisit it, or maybe even play it for the first time.

Nightdive, the studio behind Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition and other remasters, is handling the port, which will be titled Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster. The shooter game will feature “advanced 3D rendering, modern gamepad support, trophies, and achievements.”

Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster is said to come to “current-gen consoles (PS5, Xbox Series X/S), PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch.” There’s no release date yet, but we’ll keep you updated.

In the meantime, check out some of the other best Star Wars games for when you’re done with Dark Forces. You may also want to try some other games featuring Kyle Katarn, as he’s a pretty big character in the Star Wars universe.
