The Sims 4 Horse Ranch introduces 11 horse traits

The Sims 4 Horse Ranch introduces 11 horse traits that help determine a horse’s personality and impact gameplay. Understanding these traits and how they affect your horses is key to running a successful ranch. Horse traits affect training, bonding with sims and other horses, and the ease of building relationships. Training difficulty varies based on traits, with stubborn horses proving more challenging to train and raise, while some traits can make training in specific areas easier or more difficult, such as social or physical skills.

While traits are primarily meant to add layers of depth to gameplay, they also influence interactions between your horses and sims and other horses. Traits can affect friendship level, the development of the Temperament skill, and how horses behave around sims and other horses. Some traits can change a horse’s mood frequently, like the Fearful trait making them easily spooked and leaving them scared for a while.

The Sims 4 Horse Ranch traits list

You can check your horse’s traits by opening the horse’s profile from the Relationships tab. Adopted or rescued horses have their traits randomly assigned, while horses created in Create-a-Sim can be chosen with specific traits. Rescued horses are cheaper but often come with negative traits, making them harder to train. Paid horses give you more control over selecting traits for a more docile horse, but they cost a pretty penny. Here are all 11 traits in The Sims 4 Horse Ranch and what they do.

Aggressive horses are meaner than their docile counterparts, making them resistant to training. They excel in jumping and agility but are poor at learning social and physical skills.
