Asus ROG Ally BIOS update v323
The Asus ROG Ally BIOS update v323 is now available, but it doesn’t address the gaming handheld’s MicroSD card problem. Instead, the firmware release focuses on four UX improvements and addresses issues with third-party USB Type-C docks, power draw, and Turbo mode.
Meanwhile, Asus hasn’t responded to user inquiries about the card issue, which can permanently ruin affected memory cards.
Last week, the manufacturer admitted to the overheating issue, stating that under certain thermal stress conditions, the SD card reader “may malfunction and cease to recognise devices.” Complaints about ruined memory cards were common, and Asus promised to release an update to tweak the device’s fan curves as a potential fix.
However, the latest update doesn’t mention any fixes for the overheating problem. In fact, it doesn’t even include the fan curve update that Asus previously said would be coming. So, it’s advised to proceed with caution until the company officially confirms an update for the problem.
If you’re using a third-party USB Type-C dock, you may be more concerned about the overheating issue than the MicroSD card one. However, you can adjust your own fan curve settings or simply avoid using the MicroSD slot for now.
