Atlas Fallen

Atlas Fallen is an RPG game set in a vast desert landscape. While its visuals are stunning and its world is vast, there's a lot of familiarity with its storyline and gameplay mechanics.

Atlas Fallen takes inspiration from Forspoken and Monster Hunter, but it feels like the developers haven't quite taken the time to create some truly unique elements. There are some cool ideas, like the ability to gather allies and take on the world together, but it feels like Atlas Fallen could have done more with these concepts.

The story revolves around an enslaved mankind working for a tyrannical god named Thelos and his Queen. Our protagonist aims to gather allies and fight against Thelos and the Queen for our freedom. The game provides a lot of background information and lore through texts and exploration, but it feels like there's an opportunity to dive deeper into these themes of rivalry between gods.

The gameplay is a bit of a mixed bag. Atlas Fallen has some strong points - the combat being one of them. It's fluid, precise, and I enjoyed the dodge, parry, and heavy attacks. The gauntlet can also be upgraded to enhance movement and abilities.

There are also some cool customization elements like Stones and Idols that can be crafted and upgraded for battle, but none of this feels particularly unique. There are also a variety of monsters, but none of them stand out, and combat feels wasted.

Atlas Fallen is a game that looks, sounds, and feels like many others. It's hard to distinguish one game from the other these days, which is sad because each game has the potential to be so unique. What's more, games like Forspoken and Monster Hunter have done so much with their combat systems, so I would have liked to see Atlas Fallen take some risks.
