Atlas Fallen: Aerial Combat and Gameplay Revealed
Atlas Fallen’s aerial combat and gameplay have been revealed in a series of trailers for the upcoming RPG game, showcasing the game’s exciting airborne hijinks in both story mode and the open world. Set in the semi-open world of Atlas, you take on the role of a hero aiming to defeat Thelos, the ruling god who has plunged the world into a never-ending sandstorm. Armed with a versatile gauntlet, you’ll be able to manipulate the sands to create shape-shifting weapons to aid you in combat.
Developer Human Head Studios has brought its experience with the demonic underworld of Hellblade Senua’s Sacrifice to bear with Atlas Fallen, combining the styles of Devil May Cry and the Incredible Hulk to create a combat system that emphasizes movement and momentum. Seamless transitions between ground and air combat create a fluid and heavy-hitting rhythm, with complex combos and environmental exploitation allowing you to devastating effects on enemies.
The game rewards aggression, with increased airtime being a natural consequence of the combat system. This encourages you to stay in the air as long as possible – not just because it allows you to avoid incoming attacks and set up your own, but because the longer you’re in the air, the more abilities you’ll have available to you. Mastering airborne combat is crucial for taking on flying enemies and gigantic wraiths that can tower over you as you meet on the battlefield.
The vast world of Atlas is filled with secrets, treasures, lore, and side activities for you to uncover. Exploring the vertical scale and extreme topography of Atlas is almost a requirement, as Atlas Fallen is filled with hidden elements that can be difficult to spot from the ground. Even if you’re not a fan of the more open-world games, you’ll want to spend time climbing around the colossal spires and colossal canyons of Atlas in order to discover what secrets they hold.
Atlas Fallen releases on August 10 for PC and consoles, with pre-orders receiving the Ruin Rising Pack DLC that includes a new Sand Djinn companion, the ‘Djinni’ Caravan skin, and a one-time-use Relic. You can stay updated on the game’s progress through YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook.
