Darktide, the Warhammer 40,000 FPS Game Adds Crossplay Support
Darktide, the Warhammer 40,000 FPS game, has introduced Crossplay support between Steam and the Microsoft Store with the latest update to the game's season of darkness. This feature allows players to enjoy the game with their friends, regardless of the platform they purchased it on.
However, there are some things to keep in mind when playing with friends on different platforms. While you won't be able to matchmake with them, you can still join a game if your friend invites you. Rest assured, the developer, Fatshark, is actively monitoring the servers and will temporarily disable crossplay if any issues arise.
Although the matchmaking option is not available for crossplay, you can still add friends and join their games. This feature works both ways, meaning Steam players cannot opt out of crossplay, but you can disable it through your account settings on the Microsoft Store if you prefer.
Crossplay includes the ability to matchmake, add friends, and join games. However, please note that progress, such as prestige levels and weapon cosmetics, cannot be transferred between platforms. You will need to maintain your progress separately on both versions of the game.
Updates and Enhancements
In addition to crossplay support, Darktide's update introduces a new mission condition called Elite Resistance. This feature brings much stronger enemies and more challenging gameplay to the table. Fatshark has also made various tweaks to blessings, weapons, and the Ogryn's slab shield. The studio has plans for a larger weapon rework in the future, and some changes have already been implemented in a beta branch of the game.
