Final Fantasy 14 is preparing for its upcoming fifth expansion, as the fantasy game‘s story continues and more new features are introduced to the popular MMORPG game. Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail will introduce a brand-new story for the game, set in the New World continent of Toral, with diverse peoples and unique locations such as the capital city of Tuliyollal. Speaking to Fantasy-Books.com, a Square Enix representative shared more information about the expansion’s new job classes and gameplay features, along with the forthcoming patch 6.5, coinciding with Dawntrail’s launch.
Final Fantasy 14’s previous expansions have been well-received by both critics and players, with Stormblood and Shadowbringers bringing unique storylines, new zones, and gameplay features to the MMORPG game. Final Fantasy 14 is also enjoying record subscriber counts, with the forthcoming Dawntrail expansion promising to continue the story and introduce even more.
Dawntrail will have a “lighter tone” compared to recent expansions, with its own self-contained plot centered around the protagonist’s journey to assist in determining the next ruler of Tural. The level cap will be raised from 90 to 100 in Dawntrail, allowing for even more battle abilities and strategies.
Final Fantasy 14’s director, Naoki Yoshida’s hint of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles during a fan festival has sparked speculation about a potential new job class, with some pointing to the Pictomancer job as the possible new position. We’ll just have to wait and see.
New variant dungeons and Alliance Raids will also be introduced, with the latter aiming to capture a more “Final Fantasy-ish” feel. Final Fantasy 14’s version 7.0 update, coinciding with Dawntrail’s launch, will bring improvements to the game’s graphics, with the new zones and characters in the expansion leading the charge.
Players can expect improvements to lighting, shadows, texture quality, and more in future updates. The beloved character Hildibrand will also continue to have new adventures in Dawntrail, with a Strategy Board implemented to facilitate communication of battle tactics and positioning in multiplayer modes.
Final Fantasy 14 patch 6.5 part 1, coinciding with the release of the upcoming expansion, will introduce even more new features. Final Fantasy 14 players can expect a new Dancer job class, the ability to dye gear with two separate colors per piece, and the increase of the furnishing limit to 120.
There will also be plenty of character customization options, with the ability to wear glasses with headgear just one example. The Pelupelu, a Beast Tribe from Final Fantasy 10, will also feature in Dawntrail, and players will have the opportunity to interact with them.
The release date for Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail is set for Summer 2024. Final Fantasy 14’s upcoming patch 6.5 part 1 leads into the launch of the expansion, with more information to be provided in future updates.
