Lenovo Legion Go: A New Handheld PC

A new Lenovo handheld PC called the Legion Go is reportedly on the way, with the consumer electronics company potentially reviving its plans for a device following the failure of the Legion Play. We’ve had a good look at the handheld market in the past, and this new device from Lenovo could indicate a potential new addition to the market.

According to a report by PCPop, the Legion Go is a Windows 11-based gaming handheld that will use an AMD processor. It’ll follow in the footsteps of the AOKZOE A1, with similar specs, but will use a different processor. Instead of the Ryzen 7 A100 processor, it’ll use an eight-core, 16-thread AMD Ryzen 7 7840U.

This processor should allow the Legion Go to hit around 37 fps averages in Cyberpunk 2077, at least based on the tests we ran on the A1. Again, this depends on the screen size and other specifications, but it gives us an idea of what to expect.

The report mentions that the Legion Go will feature an 8-inch panel, potentially with a resolution and refresh rate that we simply don’t know about yet. Again, this is speculation based on previous information, but Lenovo’s previous handheld prototype, the Legion Play, used an 8-inch screen as well.

In terms of design, the Legion Play had a curvy aesthetic that was heavily inspired by Nintendo’s Zelda games. Whether or not this remains the design direction for the Legion Go is unclear, but we’d imagine that it’ll be a little sharper and more sophisticated.

We’d also hope that it steps up from the Legion Play’s 4GB of RAM, and perhaps even gets a larger 1080p panel. The AOKZOE A1 Pro certainly has all of these features, but we’re not sure if the Legion Go will use the same processor.

We’ll be keeping a close eye on any new information regarding the Lenovo Legion Go. In the meantime, you can check out our AOKZOE A1 review for our thoughts on the device, as well as our Steam Deck review. We’ve also got a handy guide to the best handheld games if you want to try something new.
