Metal Wolf Chaos 2 and Other FromSoftware Classics Fans Want Revived
FromSoft™, give me Metal Wolf Chaos 2. That’s the rallying cry from many players after the reveal of Daemon Incursion, but Metal Gear Rising isn’t the only FromSoftware game that deserves a sequel. Metal Gear Rising: Revengence is a good start, but it’s not even the only Metal Gear Solid game on the table, as many fans express interest in reviving classic FromSoftware titles like Chromehounds and King’s Field.
In fact, Metal Wolf Chaos is such a big deal that it’s already drawing comparisons to Metal Gear Rising. “Metal Wolf versus Raiden,” one user writes. Another says, “Metal Wolf was so much better than Rising.” Personally, I’d love to see a sequel to Metal Wolf Chaos, but I’d also be happy with a new Otogi or Chromehounds.
Other FromSoft games are also getting a revival call, with a discussion about the similarities between King’s Field and the Souls series. The iconic Moonlight Sword gets a big mention, as does the challenging gameplay that’s sorely missed in today’s era of hand-holdy games.
Then there’s Chromehounds, a game that I never got to play during its prime but still hold dear to my heart. “Chromehounds was everything Armored Core wasn’t,” one user writes, “and that’s the reason I liked it so much. It was team-based, strategic, and the multiplayer campaign map was just… wow.”
I’m with that user, as I too missed out on Chromehounds and would love to see it revived. Maybe it’s not realistic, but I’d certainly play it. Another user says, “I always wanted to play in the prime of Chromehounds. I was so close to getting an Xbox 360 just so I could play the game.”
There’s also some love for Future Strike, with a few users expressing interest in a new game in the series. Personally, I loved Future Strike back on the OG Xbox, so I’d love to see it return. It’s a great mech game, by the way, and you should check it out if you haven’t.
Then there’s Virtua On, a game that I’d love to see in VR, but I doubt will ever happen. Nevertheless, I’m glad some people are holding out hope. “I just want a new Virtua On,” one user writes. I’ve never played Virtua On, but I hear it’s basically soccer with mechs, and that sounds like a lot of fun to me.
There are also mentions for new games in the Future Strike and Virtua On franchises, but my personal favorite is this: “FromSoft, make a game called ‘Renote Control Dandy.’”
The most recurring request? Metal Wolf Chaos 2, of course. Some users even suggest a new Ninja Blade, which I think is a great idea. I’d love to see what FromSoft could do with a Devil May Cry-style game.
There are also requests for Otogi 3, Zoids, and a re-release of older Armored Core content (similar to how Armored Core Nexus brought the series back to life on Steam).
But by far the most passionate request is for a Metal Wolf Chaos sequel, with many users saying they’d buy the game day one. Others write things like “I would kill for a Metal Wolf Chaos 2,” “I’d pay any price for Metal Wolf Chaos 2,” and “I’d beg my parents for Metal Wolf Chaos 2.”
Personally, I’m dead set on seeing a Metal Wolf Chaos sequel, and I’m sure I’m not the only one. The reveal of Daemon Incursion is a fantastic step in the right direction, but I think FromSoftware should revisit the Metal Gear Solid universe more often.
